After the fourth season finished earlier this year with a startling twist, Cobra Kai is back with a new season. The fifth season of the popular show will premiere in nine months, and it won't waste any time getting started on the drama that follows the All Valley tournament final, in which Terry Silver's (Thomas Ian Griffith) dojo triumphs. Fans have always pondered what would have happened if Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) had fallen to Cobra Kai in the Karate Kid movies. In Season 5, the show perfectly encapsulates this feeling.

While it's unfortunate that Pat Morita isn't here to see all the love that the show has been receiving, we do get other major characters to make a comeback, and this time it's Yuji Okumoto's Chozen who comes to Daniel's rescue. If there's one thing that Cobra Kai has managed to succeed at with every season, it's making the perfect callbacks to the original film franchise. Chozen was the primary enemy in The Karate Kid Part II, yet it's amazing how their friendship has grown over time.

In the first episode of the fifth season, Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduea) is having trouble finding his father in Mexico. In the meantime, Terry Silver's Cobra Kai winning the All Valley tournament may cause more kids to join the dojo, which worries Daniel (Macchio). Chozen (Okumoto) will assist LaRusso in making things right once more. On the other hand, Johnny (William Zabka) finds himself going to Mexico to look for Miguel after he fled without telling anyone. Johnny recommends the pair go on a road trip with the goal of truly finding Miguel while also attempting to rebuild his relationship with his own kid Robby (Tanner Buchanan). Daniel is only facing Terry Silver's mounting threat, and this season is all about how he handles it.

Cobra Kai has always been known for packing a lot of drama, but despite how ridiculous it can be, the show never seems to get old. The new season can be compared to it. Although it gets off to a slower start, it's anticipated that this season will pack a powerful punch considering that Terry Silver isn't a typical opponent. Once more relying on nostalgia, there are times when the show transports us to the Karate Kid movies, and it's amazing how infrequently the flashbacks feel forced. Cobra Kai's ability to go from one season to the next without being monotonous, in my perspective, is surprising.

There is no escaping the fact that the programme is still at its best when it emphasises the combat scenes and the Karate techniques rather than when it gets lost in the drama. Although Season 5's opening episode looks to lack in the action department, it has been promised that the rest of the season would be more daring and violent. To assume that Daniel is still frightened by Cobra Kai's might after all these years seems foolish, and as a result, the interactions between Daniel and Amanda LaRusso, played by Courtney Henggeler, become some of the most genuine scenes on the typically melodramatic show. Through Amanda's character, the show perhaps makes the most self-aware remarks.
