House of the Dragon is happily collapsing within itself. The participants are individuals we are familiar with. The board is familiar to us. The show is currently shifting the parts and teasing a theme. And to cap it all off, a delightfully absurd battle sequence! This one was excellent.

The exploits of Corlys Velaryon and Daemon Targaryen in the Stepstones serve as the episode's bookends. Because dragons are pricey, y'all, the first scene is remarkable less for Daemon's dragon Caraxes burning a bunch of guys on a beach than for a scene where a soldier who is bound to a post by the Crabfeeder cheers for Daemon's arrival and pleads for his prince to save him, and Caraxes steps on him after that.

Even though it's very dark, it's wonderful to occasionally see some humour on House of the Dragon because it tends to be quite serious.

GET READY FOR A SIGNIFICANT TIME SKIP SOON

Possible House of the Dragon episode 3 spoilers can be found in this section.

About six months had gone between the conclusion of House of the Dragon episode 1 and the start of episode 2.

The teaser trailer for the third episode depicts King Viserys Targaryen and Alicent Hightower welcoming a young child, so viewers may anticipate another time jump of about a year in that installment.

Another significant time jump is about to occur, though, since four characters, in particular, have cast members who are both "Child" and "Adult":

  • Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen as Milly Alcock (Teenager), and Emma D'Arcy (Adult)
  • Lady Alicent Hightower as Emily Carey (Teenager), and Olivia Cooke (Adult)
  • Laena Velaryon as Nanna Blondell (Child), and Nova Fouellis-Mose (Adult).
  • Laenor Velaryon as Theo Tate (Child), and John MacMillan (Adult).

Both the TV show episodes and the series' PR campaign have kept mum about the precise details and duration of the approaching time skip.

It makes logical to switch out the actors playing these four characters with various cast members because they will most likely age between 5 and 15 years.

In a recent interview with Insider, showrunner Ryan Condal said, "It's a conceit but I believe it does work, having watched it a bunch of times."
